Opening Times

Shops

Most shops open on Monday to Friday between 9:30am and 2pm and then open between 5pm and 8pm. they close between 2pm and 5pm for the traditional 'siesta'. This is usually the same on a Saturday but some smaller shops in smaller towns and villages may not open after the siesta.

As in the UK though, major supermarkets and shopping centres usually stay open all day between 10am to 9pm or even 10pm.

Shops generally don't open on a Sunday even though a new law was passed this year to allow Sunday trading within Madrid.

Restaurants

Lunch is usually served from 1pm to 4pm and dinner from 8pm to 11pm.  Note how this fits with the traditional 'siesta'. As usual though, within tourist areas you should be able to get food at any time of the day or night.

Bars and Clubs

Most bars and clubs open during similar times to the UK. Expect Bars to open until Around 11pm and Clubs until 3am or later.

Banks

Generally, Banks in Spain open between 9am and 2pm Monday to Friday, and some open between 9am and 1pm Saturday.

Public Services

City Hall, Libraries, Government health centres etc. Are usually open between 9am and 2pm Monday to Friday.
